What happened to the Office shortcut bar?

D

David Hamilton

The new version (2002?) of Office that came with my Dell Inspiron 1150
notebook doesn't appear to have the shortcut bar I used to place at the top
of my screen. It gave me instant access to existing and new documents in all
Office programs. Desktop shortcuts to open existing or creat new documents
don't do the same because they are hidden when a component is open. Am I
just not looking in the right placer? Can I download this feature?

There is no Office Shortcut Bar in Office 2003. You can install the OSB
from a previous version of Office if you still have it. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822573 "Office Shortcut Bar is not
included in Office 2003" for other suggested workarounds.

If you have Office XP, then click on Start | Programs | Microsoft Office
Tools | Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar. If that is not a choice, then
you have to install it from your Office XP CD. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290744 "The Office XP Shortcut Bar
shortcut does not start the Office XP Bar" if you need instructions.
