What happens if I archive?

J

Johnny

Hello,

Every couple weeks or so my Outlook (MS Outlook 2000 SR-1) asks me
whether I want to Auto-archive? I've always said No, but what if I say
Yes?

What happens? For example will I lose the ability to search ALL the
mails I've received and sent without opening up the archive? Is a new
archive created each time I say Yes, or are they appended together?

Just generally, what are the advantages and disadvantages of saying Yes
to Auto-archiving?

Thanks.

Beats me. I've never used Archive. SOmeone else will have to answer this
question.

This I can answer. "Appended together" is closer. An archive is just a set
of folders, like your "Personal Folders" or "Outlook Today" and Outlook just
keeps adding to it.

It keeps the content of your main folders neater by removing items you
haven't referenced in a long time, placing them in another PST you can
access if you need to reference the material again.
