what happens once trial for office 2007 ends?

Just opened a word document to find that word has been automatically upgraded
to office 2007 from Student edition 2003. It asks for the product key which
I duly enter, only to be told that this is incorrect. I bought the software
from PC world so presumably it cannot be a pirated version? Will the
software revert back to 2003 when the trial ends or can I upgrade for free?
I also have works v8 running on this machine if that helps? I use this
software all of the time and cannot afford to be without it when the trial
ends. It is a bit much that this upgrade happened without me having an
option, then I cannot speak to anyone at Microsoft without paying a fee!!!

PC World doesnt sell trial editions of Office, what exactly did you purchase
& what did you install?
