what if scenario?

MS Project Server 2003 SP-1

We would like to anticipate what the finish date/s might be for an
enterprise project if we were to increase the standard work day from 8 hours
to 10 hours.

Increasing the hours per day in the local base calendar for the enterprise
project does not affect the Finish values for any of the Tasks. Is there a
provision for doing what if scenarios such as this? Or, would we have to
resort to creating a (new) 10 hour enterprise calendar and then building
another project that uses the new enterprise calendar to assess the
difference in Finish dates?

Thank you.

This isn't so hard. First, ask your Project Server administrator to create
an enterprise calendar that reflects the 10 hours/day working schedule.
Next, launch Project Professional 2003 and connect to Project Server. Open
an enterprise project and select all tasks in the project. Click the Task
Information button on the Standard toolbar and then select the Advanced tab.
Set the Calendar value to the new 10h/d calendar and select the "Scheduling
ignores resource calendars" option. Click the OK button and you will see
the new schedule for the project based on the 10h/d calendar. If you don't
like the results, don't save the project. Hope this helps.
