what is a slide?

I am new at this and i have a homework assignment to do a powerpoint
presentation. I have no idea what powerpoint is nor do i understand what a
slide is that i am supposed to use in this presentation

I suggest you ask your teacher what it is they want. PowerPoint is a
presentation generating/creating software. A slide is a page in your
presentation.
