What is a .xlb File extention?

I have an Excel file that has somehow gotten a .xlb extention. Why? and
how can I open it now? thanks.

It is probably a menu and toolbar file. It keeps track of the changes you
make to excel. If deleted, excel will revert to default menus and buttons.
