I want to perform some calculations on an xsheet (workbook A) that is already
too busy for more wild formulas. Thus I created a separate workbook B in
which to do the reporting. I want to link to A and keep a complete copy of
the main data page in B to work against. What is the best way to do that? I
have a Named Range on A that I already reference in a pivot table in B that
works great. I tried simply placing an = and the fully qualified named range:
'H:\IT Process Engineering Artifacts\Practice Area\CF Playbook w
Actuals.xls'!desired_staffing2
in a cell, but that didn't work. I know I can simply highlight the desired
area on A and then paste to B. However there will be a lot of updates, added
rows etc. to A and I want to make sure my B copy keeps up with the changes.
That is why I wanted to use the named range as I have it defined to grow
dynamically.
thanks,
