What is quictime tiff decompressor in Powerpoint?

I get error saying :quicktime and a TIFF (uncompressed) decompressor are
needed to see this picture" when running a Powerpoint presentation formatted
in a Macintosh. Does anyone know why there is compatability issue with XP
and Mac?
