There has been many questions I've seen about the SKU112 and every one so far
has said to get the CD but the biggest question is there somewhere we can
download the file? Yes I to have recently bought a new Gateway without
receiving a real installation CD.

I assume you are having problems with excel. If so try this:

If you do not have the installation cd and want to solve this issue
follow these steps: (works most of the time with all sku.cab files)

1. Click on start==>run==>type "excel /s" without quotations and click
ok.

2. Once Excel is up in safe mode with the error message in front, hold
down ctrl+Alt+Delete keys on your keyboard to bring the task manager up.

3. Click on the processes tab==>look for msiexec.exe (only the one next
to your user name), click on it and end the process.

4. Excel should be running without an error message now==>close Excel in
safe mode==>reopen it one more time in safe mode to check if it is
opening with no error message.

5. Close Excel /s and open Excel normally, it should work fine.

The above solution was previously supplied by [email protected]
(Bahboosh) on other dedicated Newsgroup.

PS: You need to contact Gateway to send you an OEM media for a fee of
$10. They should send you one or at least give you instructions how to
resolve simple problems from hidden cache.

In this case you have windows problem not Office related problem. Could
you post your question on this newsgroup:

news://microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

It looks like you may have to do a Windows Repair Installation for which
I can't give you the steps on this NG.

Although MSFT do visit these NGs, they can't assist you to download
files which should essentially be on your CD or recovery nedia given to
you by your computer vendor.

Hi Pkr04,

The OEMs (in this case Gateway) are required to provide the CD for Office products (other than the trial version) with the PC. You
may want to check under Start=>Programs for Gateway or other utilities. In some cases there is an 'image' of the CD shipped on the
harddrive and they expect you to burn your own CDs from that image (sigh).

The MS folks sometimes come by the newsgroups but it's mainly peer support. There isn't a MS download source for the files from the
CD and that error often indicates a corrupted \msocache folder (part of the Office install) and generally requires that you have the
CD to do the repair.
