Im trying to save word documents as html's with hyperlink pix and sub
documents. But my folder is too large because of the _files folder and the
sub folders I have to associate with the page I want to build. How can I make
this smaller and more efficient? Im using XP pro, Office Word 2003

Hi Griffen,

In Tools=>Options=>General=>Web Options is a choice to use/not use a related file folder for Word Web documents (.htm).

The idea of the folder is that
(a) the document you're saving would go to your 'My Documents' folder and then a folder of the same name as your document with the
_files tacked on the end would be where the attached graphics and items usable in Word but not in a browser are stored. That is to
keep your documents folder less cluttered.

(b) When you're ready to upload to a webserver you'd upload the document plus your samename_files folder.

If you turn that option off then the .HTM document and all related items are saved on disk together. If you save more than one HTM
document to the same folder plan on uploading the whole folder unless you know you can keep track of graphics with names like
picture1.gif <g> and which page they relate to without looking at the filename.xml file which lists all of the related parts needed
to display the page in a browser.

For smaller results use the File=>Save As Web Page-Filtered choice, but save a copy of your work as a .DOC file for later editing as
the Filtered choice may not retain content not suitable for IE.
