What is the anchor symbol when pasting a drawing

Jeff User

Hi
Word 2002
I make a drawing using the drawing tools. I draw a square.
Then I copy and paste this square into another word doc.
When I do this, an anchor symbol appears slightly above the pasted
square on the left side.

What is this anchor symbol and what is it used for?

Thanks
Jeff

It shows the place where the picture is "anchored" and can be moved to move
the picture. It is exactly like the definition of an Anchor.
