What is the best practice for tracking progress including overtim.

What is the best set of views and tables to enter actual hours, both regular
and overtime by resource into Project? Also, what are the best
practices/processes that minimize interactions between the fields that result
in incorrect totals?

Just what "incorrect totals" are you getting? To enter hours worked of
regular and OT, I'd use the resource usage view and make sure the rows for
Actual Work and Actual Overtime Work are represented.

I have noticed that I have to be sure to enter Actual Work first for regular
hours and then Actual Overtime Work, because the Actual Work field is updated
with the overtime hours. It does not appear that the Acutal Work is correct
unless I do it in this order. I am looking for the best views to keep
completion dates, work, overtime, and resources in view. So far I have
created two tailored views to make a form, but I have a low confidence that
the entries are correct because I keep running up against unforeseen
interactions between the fields.

Rather than itemizing the problems, I was hoping to find someone who has
created the necessary views and process for entering regular and overtime
work by resource.
