What is the best way of tracking threads without creating a folde.

Can someone give me ideas on best way of keeping a track of a thread without
having to create a folder or keeping the thread in an inbox.
these threads are temporary in nature so I just want to keep them around
until an issue is resolved and then delete them or archive them.
