What is the latest version of MS Office XP Professional 2002?

I just bought a new laptop that has MS Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002
with SP2 pre-loaded on it. I installed MS Office XP Professional Version 2002.
Update version 10.0.2627.01. When I select to use Word (2002) as my Outlook
(2002) e-mail editor I get the message that this form requires Word as your
e-mail editor, but Word is either busy or cannot be found and that the
Outlook editor will be used instead. I noticed that several people have been
reporting the same problem. What is the fix for this problem? One person said
that he un-installed XP Office Professional and then re-installed it and the
problem was corrected. I tried the same thing and it didn't work. Am I
running the right version (latest update) of MS Office XP 2002? Is there a
service pack update that fixes this probelm? I ran the same software on my
older desktop without having this problem. Any suggestions?

Have you installed the service packs for Office XP?

Milly:

I have installed the latest Office XP updates as instructed by the update
audit. The updates included SP1 and SP3 and junk mail filter. The update went
Ok. However, now when I use Outlook and select new message to create an
e-mail I get a message "Microsoft Outlook - Not Implemented". I didn't get
this message before. Now I can't even create a e-mail with Outlook!! Is there
some other setting needed after the update that I have to perform?

Ok .... The probelm is fixed, however, I don't know why!!
I removed Office XP 2002 and all the updates (including the XP Office 2003
SP updates that where downloaded) and I re-installed Office XP from the
original Office XP CD version 2002. Turned off the computer and restarted.
Low and behold, Word 2002 can now be selected as Outlook 2002 e-mail editor.
The only problem now is that I get a message that some program is trying to
access my e-mail address book. This is a problem for another day.
Many thanks to everyone who supplied helpful suggestions ... including the
software gods who perform their magic without anyone knowing how.
regards ... Joe A
