What is the purpose of the Approval Status field in timesheets?

I am using Project Server 2007. What is the purpose of the Approval
Status field on the timesheets? It does not appear to change
regardless of whether I've entered time, submitted time, time has been
approved, or timesheets have been closed. It always stays blank. Am
I missing something?

The Approval Status field is used only for Administrative time categories
such as Vacation, Sick Leave, and Administrative. You do not see an
Approval Status value for project tasks. If you enter valid data in an
Administrative time category, the Approval Status field shows a Green
stoplight. If you enter invalid information, such as entering actual time
on Vacation without prior approval for the Vacation time, the Approval
Status field shows a Yellow stoplight. If a Timesheet Manager rejects
timesheet information for Administrative time, the Approval Status field
shows a Red stoplight. Hope this helps.
