What is the quarantine folder used for?

Is the quarantine folder used for holding messages or attachments you suspect
contain viruses? I've never used it and was curious (besides the possible
obvious) what it was specifically used for.

It's usually part of your AV program.....

Check the documentation for your anti-virus application. It's not something that OUtlook creates.
