What is wrong with my micro word trial

I recently bought a new computer with a trial of microsoft office (25
uses);However, when I bring up microsoft word it has all these arrows and
dashes across the document making sending out resumes or creating documents
pointless. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Open a new document, and in the Paragraph section on the Home tab click on
the top right-hand icon that looks like this: ¶

That should hide them.

They are called Formatting marks and they are Hidden unless you elect to
See them, press Ctrl+* to toggle them off on your screen.
