What kind of resource should the Project Server admin be?

Hello,

We are in the process of installing Project Server 2003. I have a
pretty simple question. Should the "administrator" of Project Server
be a technical resource (i.e. a network admin) or a business resource,
such as a PMO member?

Thank you!

And the answer is both! You need technical support to keep the platform
alive and healthy, but most of the day-to-day administration is best handled
by a PMO person or other non-technical admin who knows the business rules.

Surprisingly, I would say that the administrator should be more on the
business side than on the technical (i.e. network admin) side. Of
course, it would help for the administrator to understand the technical
side of the tool but there is so much more involved in the
configuration of the tool that requires an understanding of how the
business is run. Configuration decisions need to be based on the
business needs.

If any technical issues arise like spooler errors than a more technical
user might need to be pulled in. Of coures, you should still have
technical resources responsible for the installation of the tool,
understanding the architecture, and knowing how to set up backups,
restore from backup and so on.
