I was wondering what kind of software tool is MPM?
I've never heard of it, and a company that I'm working with is using
it to schedule/track projects with MPM instead of MS Project.

Micro-Frame Program Manager (MPM) is made by a company called
MicroFrame. For detail information you can go to their website at
(strange enough): www.microframe.com.

We used MPM at our company. It was the interface between Project, (used
by our Cost Account Managers to create and track their schedules), and
our company financial system. Perhaps it has been improved but if you
think Project is difficult and not very user friendly, you should try
MPM.
