Charles,

I don't know of a way off the top of my head how to find the version from
the CD. However if you do have it loaded on a PC try this. Goto www.
belarc.com. Download the free advisor program. This software is amazing and
takes only 2 minutes to load. It will tell you everything about your PC
including hardware and software versions. Look towards the bottom to see
software loaded. You will love this software. Good luck and let me know if
this does the job.

Hi,

Great, I had looked in the root of the CD. I did not think to look in
the sub directories, shame on me.

Thanks,

Charles

try going to Help>About

need to know what
Hi Matt,

That is the problem. I do not trust the version number

reported by
Help|About.

I had Office XP installed and patched up to date until

Win2000 crashed
(PFN_LIST_CORRUPT). I then had to start over with

everything. After
installing Office XP again I then tried to apply SP3 (I

have it saved
from previous update, in fact I have all 3 SP's). SP3

reports an error
that the expected version was not found and exits.

I then looked at Help|About and it reported that I had SP3

installed. I
know I installed SP3 before and the download is good.

Since I did not
look at Help|About before trying to install SP3 I wanted

to look on the
installation CD for the original version number and patch
level.

So, I would like to know where/if the version information

is stored on
the CD.

Thanks,

Charles
