Macros are for recording actions so you can run them over and over again.
Try a simple macro by typing a word in any cell. Now go to
tools/macro/record new macro. Select the cell you earlier typed into and
filldown a few cells. Go back now to tools/macro/stop recording. Delete the
cells you earlier filled down, leaving the origional cell with data. Go now
to tools/macro/macros and select Macro1 then click run. The filldown action
you recorded will be played.
Play around with recording different macros, in time you will see how useful
they are.
