What style is current paragraph??? (Word 2007)

Just had my work computer upgraded (???) to the latest office.
Learning curve is proving to be steeper than I anticipated.

How do I tell what style is assigned to a paragraph? I'm used to
having a small toolbar that shows the style, but now that's not there
and the style box that drops down that shows every style does not
highlight the current style. The transition has worked up a document
and I'm trying to fix and can't. For example, the entries in the List
of Figures come from a caption style. Some are bold and some are
not. I can't figure out from where the Bold is coming from.
Unbolding and re-updating the fields dorks it up again.

Help! Document is due out soon and I can't get past some simple
issues (at least they used to be simple!)
