What tells Entourage it needs to rebuild database

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I came in this morning to have entourage tell me it wants to rebuild my database. This is not new. I have had this issue before therefore I have backups ready when this happens.
So I immediately replaced my main identity with the backup I have. When I restart entourage it still tells me it has to rebuild the database. If I try and rebuild the database, the database utility just freezes. I have many backups and every time I replace the Main Identity with a backup and start entourage it still thinks it needs to rebuild the database.
I have deleted the database utility prefrences as well as entourage preferences and it sill wants to do this

What file tells entourage that it needs verify the database?

Thanks for the help

What file tells entourage that it needs verify the database?

If you only have an Exchange account, I would create a new Identity and let
Entourage sync back up. This is much better than trying to rebuild.

You can get false reports. Is the message you are receiving "Your Office
database is damaged. You need to rebuild"?

See this fix and steps to determine if your database needs to be rebuilt.
