What updates for Office 97 do I need to install?

I have Office 97 professional. I just had to reload it since a system
restore. I've been on the MS site, but find a number of updates. What do I
really need to update onto my system?

Impossible to say specifically.
Its an old app - but may be fine for you - likely there are many security
updates and fixes

Hi Jim,

See if the information here helps to first identify
what release level of the Office 97 CD you have.
If after installing, you find in Help=>About in Word
"SR2" as part of the title then you may need
only the 'post Service Release fixes'

but use the information in that article to check the
properties of the files (unless your CD says on its
face that it is the SR1 or SR2 release version of Office97).

Unlike Office 2000 and later, where product updates are reapplied from storage on the hard drive automatically when you change
installed feature sets, Office 97's 'Acme' setup program did not have that capability so keep the downloads handy to reuse when
needed.

Generally the significant fixes were in Office 97
Service Release 1 and 2 (SR1 and SR2)[Service Release 1 must be in place for Service Release 2 to be installed]
