I have no version of MS Office on my computer. My computer came w/ PC Works
2005. I need to know what would be the best version of MS Office to purchase
and the best way of getting it. I do not have the money right now to purchase
it, so what other options do I have.

Microsoft Office is not free. If you want it, you must buy it
like the rest of us.

What's wrong with Microsoft Works? For basic documents, Works
can "save as" to Word- and Excel-compatible files.

The free OpenOffice suite, which you can download from
www.OpenOffice.org , contains applications that are similar to
those in Microsoft Office and can "save as" to Office-compatible
files.

Thanks for responding. I know MS Office is not free, it's expensive and I
know I have to buy it if I want it, but I don't have that type of money.

I have a document already saved in Microsoft Word and I pulled it up in
Microsoft Works and I had to make a few changes, but my only concern is that
once I email this document to someone with Microsoft Word it won't look the
same on their end.

Thanks for the info.

There could be some minor cosmetic differences at the receiving
end, but probably nothing major as long as the document doesn't
contain complex formatting. And even if you had Word, it's
likely that a Word document will look a bit different on someone
else's computer than it does on yours (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TextReflow.htm and
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/sharing/WillMyFormatChange.html
for more info on that).
