What would cause this?

It's been a while since I have had to update my site. I usually go to the
site, open it in FP, make my changes and then save.

Now when I try to open the site I get the following error:

"An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files. Authors-if authoring
against a web server, please contact the webmaster for this servers site.
Webmasters- please see the server's system log for more details".

I contacted the hosting company and they said that nothing has changed on
their side and it must be something to do with my FrontPage.

I can upload using a FTP client but I would rather stay with my way of doing
it right from FP.

Any ideas on what caused this and how I can fix it?

Ask the host to run a check on the extensions.

Instead of trying to open from Internet Explorer, try opening directly from
Frontpage. We recently encountered the same problem, and this fix worked for
us.

If you are trying to open your website from IE (by
selecting "Edit with MS Frontpage", then you are
experiencing a glitch we also have seen lately (thanks,
we believe, to an automatic update installed by MS). To
get around this inconvenience, open your website directly
in Frontpage. It works for us.
