Whats a Far Price for Web design

Hi, I have been approached by a company who wants me to do there webdesign.
I want to know what is a fair price to charge for this. I can do java
buttons and forms etc and I'm reasonable good at Photoshop etc. here's an
example of my work www.barkerpersonnel.co.uk I did this some time ago and
idn't charge and I could probably do better now. What do you think I should
charge ? Any Input appreciated

Ive done a few websites for my company that are similair to yours.
I would charge 1,000 dollars to set up the website, and 40 dollars an hour
to maintain it after it is done.
These are Canadian dollars, so I am not sure how it would translate into
your British pounds, but, I think that is a fair estimate.
If they dont agree then tell them to go to a professional website developer
and they will quickly see that they are getting a far better deal by using
you.

Most web developing companies here where I live in Ontario wont even look
at you without 500 dollars up front.
