What's all the fuss ?? (O2003)

I am VERY surprised at all of the issues people claim to be having with
Office 2003.

I have owned every version of Office since Windows 3.1. I must admit, I have
never had BIG issues with Office.

I have Office 2003...

I must admit that the on-line help annoys me, and is slow even with a
persistent high speed i-net connection.

Generally, though, I have had no problems. It could be that I'm lucky. (And
yes, I DO use it extensively---VB programming, etc)

Seems odd.

I agree, we don't go back that far in Office version history, but if most people would do basic research on the software products they purchase, there would be less problems...nah, don't think so.
One correlation I see day to day, people spend years going to school using books to learn from or as reference, then as soon as they get out most think there is no need for them anymore!
We like the online help system, there is much potential there to keep software help up to date, after updates, patches, etc...(if it is used that way in the future). It may be somewhat slow now, but some posts concerning this say that this is being worked on.

gotta agree with the book thing. I will say my compooter book shelf looks
like a "who's who" of microsoft press.

OK...some may argue that the books should come WITH the software, a notion I
partially agree with. I remember in the "old" days when office was a 25
pound box, 8 oz of disks and 24.5lbs of manuals.

IF you run into problems now, a $40 book (cleverly selected) is a HUGE step
in the right direction.

I think schools should spend more time teaching people that a computer is an
evolutionary tool requiring self teaching, rather than a push here = magic
black box.

Interesting.
