Hiya,

What's the difference between:

1) A new Outlook data file and a new folder that one creates by
clicking on a button that says "Create New".


2) While in the process of creating the "specified folders" (when
creating a rule) I *did not* create the new folder via the menu option
New|Outlook Data File.

When I needed a "specified folder" when creating a rule, was click on
button that said "Create New"


Should they have been New Outlook Data Files?

If someone could answer these questions, I would appreciate it.

1) A new Outlook data file and a new folder that one creates by

A folder is a logical container inside an Outlook data file that allows you
to give your data items some order and organization. Outlook folders,
however, don't have any physical existence outside of Outlook Outlook data
files, however, are Windows file system objects. They're files whose
extension is ".pst"

That's because the "specified folder" must have been created with
File>New>Folder.

That's fine, too. It does the same thing.

Should they have been New Outlook Data Files?

Only if you don't want the folder(s) in your primary data file. If you want
them in another data file, then you need to create it first. An Outlook
data file ia a REAL file. A folder is not.
