What's the padding in a cell of a spreadsheet (XLSX)?

Hello Dave,

The padding you referred to is very subtle. I think it was designed like
that in consideration of aesthetics. The product team may know how the
little padding is calculated. I cannot assure you that they will tell me
the exact algorithm, but I will do my best to help you.

Hi;

Thank you. Hopefully they will answer - I think that would be
something that should be in the XLSX spec although if it's hard-coded
and can't change, maybe not.

Hello Dave,

I'm sorry, Dave, because the product team told me the implementation of the
subtle padding is not planned to be in public. There were a lot of work of
psychologists and estheticians behind the padding. The padding is a part of
Microsoft Excel product for a better use experience. It is not in the spec
partially because a fixed value of the padding won't dynamically fit the
change of font size. I'm sorry I cannot help you with this issue, but a
possible workaround is to sample the padding value with different font
sizes, then get the simulation equation from the sample data.
