What's this "top.htm"?

I recently upgraded to FP2003 and had no problems until today. I added some
links to some pages and noticed that in both Design View and Preview that
there were the words "[top.htm]" at the very top of the page, but I could
find nothing in the source code view referencing it. The same thing
happened on a new page I created for the site and one other that I revised.
Thinking that I must have accidently changed some Options setting, I went
ahead and published the changes to my host site. When I examined the pages
in the browser the words "[top.htm]" were clearly on those three pages and
there was a line showing in the "View Source" : "<p>[top.htm]</p>"
following the "<body>" tag, but it doesn't show up in the source code in my
FrontPage editor.

The site is http://www.colescorner.com

Can anyone explain this to me?

You're using frames and [Top.htm] is in the source code of the frame page that shows inside the home
"frame"
http://home.comcast.net/~colehistory/ is where you'll find [top.htm]

You are using shared borders (top and bottom) and your top shared border is also using a shared border
in your _borders folder in top.htm change
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tb, default">
to
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="none">

Or since you apparently don't have any content in it use Format Shared borders and unselect the top shared border option for all
pages

It was Shared Borders, both top and bottom, done years ago in a much earlier
version of FP but disregarded on most pages. Obviously, I need to really
look through this site and drastically revise it. I also need to sit down
with a good book and self-learning plan.
Thanks to all who responded with their good advice.
