I have several .pst files. Only two are of interest in this issue. My main
mail file is outlook.pst. My archive file is archive.pst. They are both
located on my D: drive along with all other 'data' files for easing backups
etc. Over the past few months Outlook2002 has been crashing during downloads
and losing email. I suspect malware may be involved in the instability so
just installed an updated version of Ad-Aware last night, found and cleaned
house right away. Nontheless I want to archive older records from
outlook.pst to archive.pst to reduce the size of my datasets for backup etc.
When I use the archiving functionality in Outlook2002, I find the records are
populating the archive.pst dataset, but are not being removed from the
outlook.pst dataset. I ran a 'compact' on the file and it is presently 894
MB. I was wondering whether anyone else has encountered the same problem.
I'm preparing to export all records to a new .pst file and blow away the
original. Any suggestions?
