When closing Outlook 2003 I get Runtime Error

When I close Outlook 2003 I get the following runtime error _twice_:
TITLE BAR: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Message is:
Runtime Error!

Program:

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Once, and only once, this resulted in two events being added to the event log.

Event ID 1000 "Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.6353, faulting
module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x35d3d597

Event ID 1001 "Fault bucket 165106927"

Because the events were generated only once, I am not at all certain that
they directly relate to the problem.

Any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Does the same error occur if you start Outlook in safe mode
("outlook.exe /safe") and then exit? If the error does not occur in
safe mode then you might have an add-in that isn't compatible with the
Office service pack level currently installed. When you exit Outlook,
it first has to unload all add-ins, but in safe mode none of the add-ins
are loaded so there are none to unload when exiting Outlook.

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried that yesterday without success. Also
ran the pst scanning software. No effect. Tried numerous similar ideas,
rebooted several times all with no effect.

Finally just left the thing running for the past 24 hours or so. And as
mysteriously as the problem began, it has stopped.

I just now stopped Outlook so I could try safe mode again, and noticed that
it did not generate the error. I started it in safe mode, and stopped it
again. No problem. I started it with the recycle switch instead of safe
mode, and no problem. This problem went on for days before I gave up looking
for solutions on the web and in the knowledge base.

Wierd. Just plain wierd. And lucky I guess, because it appears that
several other folks have problems with it just locking up at the end, and
they do not appear to be getting much relief.

Thank you again for your suggestion.
