when correcting typo error, how do you prevent type over correctio

how do you stop the type over feature when correcting typo mistakes. I much
prefer to insert the correction and continue the thought process without
retyping the whole thought?

For a little more information, if you look at the bottom of the Word
window, you'll see OVR, for overtype mode. If the OVR is bold Word
will overtype whatever is there when you are correcting typos. Press
the INSERT key to turn overtype mode off. The OVR will become grayed
out. Pressing INSERT again will toggle overtype mode back on.
