What Bob is trying to explain to you is that there are rollers inside
your printer that GRAB the paper to pull it into the printer.
After a time, these rollers can get yucky with ink to cause them to
SKID when they attempt to pull in paper or they can become worn to
cause the same type of problem.
Labels can be a very precise process to print. If the printer attempts
to pull in the labels and the rollers insider your printer that are
what pull in the paper and FEED it to the printer are not able to grab
the label/paper IMMEDIATELY at the beginning, they can skid an big and
your printer will THINK they are ready to go...but the print job can
be off by a tiny bit. Which can be just enough to mess up your labels.
If you are sure you have the correct label sizes set...then it is
probably that your printer is not grabbing the paper properly.
The HP 800 series printers are very old. So there's a good chance that
your rollers are getting old/worn and can not longer grab the paper
EXACTLY as needed.
So you have a few choices...
* Take the printer in to repair and have someone clean the roller
and/or adjust them. But this will probably cost you a lot of money
since few people repair old printers anymore since they are now so
cheap.
* Buy a new printer.
* Adjust your label size to make up for the skid...and DON'T print on
your labels! Print on plain paper and then hold that paper up against
the labels in front of a bright light bulb so you can see through the
paper to see if the alignment is working...it'll save you lots of
money on labels.
The problem is apparently NOT being caused by Word...but is because
you have an old printer that is no longer working properly.
Good luck...
