When I double-click on a hyperlink in Access it opens in HTML

Please help, I'm going mad!

When I double-click on a hyperlink in Access it opens in HTML instead of the
file extention. I want it to open in the designated program.

Example: file.xls opens as a webpage instead of Excel, file.doc opens in
webpage instead of Word.

Please HELP!
