WHEN I OPEAN A FILE THAT I WROTE IN A DIFFERENT PROGRAM IT COMES UP IN A
BUNCH OF DIFFERENT LETTERS BUT I CAN OPEAN THE FILE IN ANY OTHER PROGRAM OR
THE OLD MICROSOFT WORD THAT WE HAD AND IT WORKS. HELP ME PLEASE!!

What program was used to create the file? A previous version of Word?
Another word processing program? Or what?

Iam using the latest version of word. When I try and opean anything from
Microsoft excel to do a mail merge it all comes as as computer talk. Even
just trying to opean the file with out doing the mail merge. Thank you for
your help. The whole store is having this problem.

I am using microsoft 2003 I am writing in microsoft exel. but when you opean
the file it is in camputer talk.(all yyyyybbbb) it is the same way when I
opean it to do a mail merge. Thank you for your help we all just got new
computes and this program.

You should not be trying to open Excel files in Word. If you are using an
Excel file as a data source for a mail merge in Word, you need to use Open
Data Source on the Mail Merge toolbar to connect to the Excel file. I'm not
sure how well this works if you don't have Excel installed.
