When inserting a picture, the picture doesn't appear until....

In Office 2003, I insert a picture from file and the picture cannot be viewed
in any office application!!
The picture is in the document as you can view the frame and editing the
picture will enable you to see it for a short while, until you scroll down
the page, the picture then disappears again!
I have tried re-installing Office as well as re-imaging the machine but
to no-avail

any help would be much appreciated

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card....

Thanks, yes we do have the correct video card drivers for the system, we have
found that disabling hardware acceleration in display settings resolves the
problem but also disables directdraw and directX functionality!
So, although a solution - its not great!

Are the "correct video card drivers" the ones from the manufacturers web
site or the ones that "Windows installed"? If the later, change to the
former.
