I purchased an HP desktop w/Media ctr. software what is confusing to me is,
this system only came w/ a 60-day microsoft Office 03 trial. Is this standard
and am I expected to shell out more $ for these essential apps. Thanks in
advance to whom ever can help. nlaz01

Yes, you are expected to pay for the software. You only get one trial
period. You should have asked the salesperson whether that computer came
with the software you consider essential.

This really isn't a confusing issue. Some people need Office, some don't.
Why make people who don't need it pay for it? And even if you do "build it
into the price", which edition? If you install Basic, the end user wants
Pro. If you install Pro, the end user may only need Basic.

Only by wiping the harddrive. If YOU believe it to be an ESSENTIAL
application, buy it. Most people don't require it.

I made that comment once. Got my butt chewed out for telling them that.Seems
someone felt that the average poster would do it.

No problem, if average user simply can't comprehend the results of
wiping the harddrive to remove all traces of data means it removes all
traces of data, then it's a Darwin issue. As for getting my butt chewed
out, I've got a tough one. ;-)
