WHEN WILL ENTOURAGE/PALM/SYNC ISSUES BE ADDRESSED??

J

Okay, I'm at my wits' end... feel completely betrayed by Microsoft, Apple, Palm and any other involved parties.

I *need*... Entourage 2008 to directly sync with my Treo as reliably as 2004 did (which wasn't perfect, but good enough).

I cannot use Outlook/Parallels in the interim, value my projects, tagging tasks and calendar events in said projects, etc. and don't see why, for one day, I should have to sacrifice this.

I need everything fixed, like, yesterday.

Please advise.

I'm on Leopard, Office 2008 and use a Treo 755p... there's no good reason why we shouldn't be able to sync this stuff reliably, quickly and NOW.

So?

Cut down the omega 6 in your diet?

Okay. Can you still use/access your copy of Office 2004? You've
already touched on a solution that worked -previously- for you.
I've gone back to Office 2004. It's working adequately on my Leopard
Mac. A month of angst vanished when I made the jump back to O2004,
rather than getting repeatedly hit with '08's sand-filled sock.
I appreciate that won't necessarily work for you.

Nah. I already sold my 2004 copy on ebay.

Sorry to come off so reactionary... I've just never felt so paralyzed and inconvenienced by something(s) I've spent hundreds of dollars on before.

There's got to be a solution for this coming, right?

Sure, but MS hardly ever psots here and they never make announcements
about this sort of issues.

This is a peer support group. Your guess is as good as ours.

Microsoft has announced on their Mac Mojo blog an Office 12.0.1 update
to be released around March 11 but did not provide a list of specific fixes.

Sync Services has been a high traffic topic so I'd hope any fixes will
be introduced then. No guarantee.

Yes I was told by an Microsoft tech rep yesterday that it is a mess,
they are sending continuously messages to the product team but they
don't hear anything in advance either. A refund is the best they can
offer at this point. She mentioned are you noticing that sync's from
Entourage to iCal work fine but the other way is where you get most of
the problems and I said exactly. So they sure know what's going on but
you're right - its anyone's guess when this will get resolved.

Sync Services must copy items from Entourage, through iSync, and finally
to Palm devices. If iSync screws anything up, then you are hosed. It's
way more complicated than need be. In contrast, the Entourage Handheld
Sync Conduit synchronized items directly between Palm devices and
Entourage.

Microsoft can shove Sync Services where the sun doesn't shine, for all I
care. I want the Entourage Handheld Sync Conduit back, for crying out
loud.

Right on. I've been telling Microsoft consistently that the conduit is
the answer as sync services sucks (it did in 2004 when it came out and
still does). I've wasted way too many hours trying to keep it running
but it just won't. I don't know - I'm skeptical they can resolve this
sync services problem quickly as it had issues in 2004 which came out
possibly a year ago. And I think this is even worse than my 2004
experience with it.

The 12.0.1 release is March 11, let's hope that we'll see improvement then.
