When will we be able to use WDS again?

After installing the OneNote BETA, I obviously lost the ability to
perform a desktop search.

When will there be something I can install that will enable this? I've
reverted to using Google Desktop Search for now, but don't want to
stick with this product.

I see a number of posts about Indexing Services, etc. Is this
addressing the same problem?

We don't know. MS hasn't announced anything yet in regards to a newer
beta of WDS 3 that will actually have a UI and is not just the engine
for Outlook and OneNote 2007.

In that Chris Prattley blog I quoted somewhere, he says it will get an
interface in the next beta release, in a couple of months. But don't trust
me; I badly miscontrued him once before.
