When Word gives error message, go a bit beyond AutoProtect: here's how

If you are typing something when Word gives you an error
message that forces you to shut down the program (not the
computer), a simple thing to do is move the error message
to a corner of the screen, and take a screenshot (using
the Print Screen button) of some of the work you've
already done. This won't recover everything, but at
least you can fill a few holes in that AutoProtect may
not get.

Once you've taken the screenshot, you can paste it into
Paint, and re-type from the screenshot. It's a bit of
work, but at least you didn't lose your thoughts.

Just copy and paste the error dialog contents: no need to take such
elaborate steps as huge screen shots and graphics editing!
