whenever I save a Word doc it becomes a Wordpad doc, now all docs.

have become Wordpad. Please, how can i fix this? I tried to create a new
normal.dot but must have done it incorrectly. Please help me in solving this
problem. thanks

Your documents haven't changed in any way. What has happened is that the
file association in the registry has gone adrift. Re-register Word and it
should be fixed. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ReRegisterWord.htm
