Where are my old emails?

Yesterday (14.01.09) I was managing my emails via Microsoft Outlook -
overnight my computer updated its Microsoft XP and today all my emails from
yesterday and before are gone. My calendar has no appointments in it and my
address book is empty. Can anyone tell me how to get them back?

You really have to tell us more, i.e. your Outlook version and account
type. Also, where is (was) your email stored, on an Exchange Server or a
PST file?

You should not allow automatic Windows updates to be installed during
your absence, especially if programs like Outlook are running. Better
set automatic updates to "Notify me but don't automatically download or
install them." This way you have a chance to close all applications
before Windows is updated and rebooted.

My guess is either a new PST or a new mail profile got created. Use the
Mail applet in Control Panel to set things back to what you want them to be.
