Depends on the version.
Tools > Database utilities > Linked-table manager

I know where the command is but I have no add ins to select.
Where can I find the add in files to put onto my computer so that I can use
them via the add in manager?

Reread Luiz' response, depending on the version, it isn't really an add-in.
It is a program feature that was either installed or wasn't installed.

For at least 2000, XP/2002 and 2003:
If the option isn't there, try reinstalling Access.

Not sure about earlier versions, but I suspect it is something similar (and
you *still* haven't told us what version anyway, even after being asked).

Remove 'Junk' from return address.

I can get to

but the manager is empty and I have everything installed that is on the disc

The help says

To add an add-in to the list, click Add New, and then specify its location.

But what is the location?

The version is 2000 (Questions usually have question marks, reread Luiz'
response)

The version is 2000
I can get to Tools > Database utilities > Linked-table manager
but the manager is empty

Thank you very much. Now we may be able to get somewhere.

Does that mean:
1) that when you make that menu selection, nothing happens
or
2) that the manager comes up but it doesn't list the *already linked*
tables in your database? (The manager only lists tables in the current db
that already have links, it doesn't create links.)

In any case, if you have that selection on your Tools menu, you already have
the Linked table manager. It just isn't working or isn't working as you
expect.

If #1, you might try 'Add/Remove Programs' to Reinstall or Repair Office.
You also might try Office Updates, if you haven't recently.

If #2 above is true and you are linking to an Oracle database:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323658
ACC2000: Linked Table Manager Does Not Display All Linked Oracle Tables

BTW, the Access 2000 help file is incorrect when it refers to the
LinkedTableManager, Switchboard Manager, Database Splitter and Upsizing
wizard as Addins (so the instructions about how to add an add-in won't help
you because it isn't an add-in).
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;235430
ACC2000: Switchboard Manager Does Not Appear on Add-Ins Submenu as Expected

Hope this helps,

Its amazing what you can do with a little help from your friends.

I found 3 MDE files and 1 MDA file in the folder:

Installation Data/Microsoft/Add ins

Then I selected the above files for installation via the Add-in Manager (Not
the Link Manager).

Now I can see the Link Manager command under Tools/Database Utility (As Luiz
suggested in the first place!)

Thanks guys

PS Should there be more than 4 files available as add-ins?

PPS Now I have got to grips with this Discussion Forum I going to post
another question about linking up to Paradox files.

What version of Access? I don't have any add-ins in Access 2003 (other than
a 3rd party one that I was a beta tester for).

Now there was a definite question.

The version I'm running is 2000. The Add-in Manager is on the Tools drop down

Tools/Add-ins/Add-in Manager

I've never used 2003 so I can't help you there.

Cheers

Hi Douglas,

if you install ADE (Access Developer Extensions), you'll have the Property
Scanner under Tools > Add-ins menu.
Well, we can consider it a 3rd party anyway.
