Microsoft said they were closing down their news servers, so their own staff
will have to find other news servers if they want access, and probably can't
do it on company time.

forums?

What do you mean by "waiting" for a web forum? The MS Answers forums are
instantaneous....

If I want to check on forum changes I have to go through a series of
selections. Every step has take a few seconds which I have to wait
for. There is no instant access to changes. All I need to do with
newsgroups is press the space bar and the reader jumps to the next
change. AAMOI I read the forums through the Community Forums NNTP
bridge and Agent. That gives me the access I want without the
inconvenience of web forums.

As a 10-year Excel MVP I can state there is no incentive from MS to entice me
over to the forums.

Gord,

I'm using the community bridge and it works fine for me (for the most part).
You may want to reconsider and start looking at those forums using your
newsreader -- just like before.

The bad news is that not as many questioners have found the forums. There seem
to be about 20 questions per day and 1234 answers per question <vbg>.

I'm hoping that'll change soon.

I had my newsreader set up using the bridge.

As you point out...............many answers--few questions.

I think it is time for a rest in any case.

Been a good long run but have come to the end of me.

I'll hang around here for a while but at a greatly reduced pace.

I think with the implementation of the forums, most of the regulars will see a
reduced pace -- and not by choice.

Whatever you decide, congrats on the last 10 years!

Agreed, and which actually means splendid service for the few who ask
the few questions
I'm puzzled as to why MS' migration has failed to pull in the numbers
so far
Perhaps over time, hopefully, posters will flock in once again like in
the past ..
