Where do UML shapes store the properties data?

We can add the properties data for UML shapes from the Property menu, but I
can't find the property data in Custom properties cells and User-defined
cells in the Shapesheet. Who can tell me Where UML shapes store the
properties data?

Thanks a lot

AFAIK they are stored internally in the add-on. Some of the data is supposed
to be available when the document is stored as xml.

Thanks for your answer, Al Edlund

If the property data are stored internally in the add-on, the data
will be missing when the document is copied to another computer. I suppose
it may be store the data with shape in private area.

I am designing the visio add-on, and want to store some data with the
shape, but if I store the data in the shapesheet, it shall be exposed to the
everyone. Could you give me a suggestion to hide the data?

Thank you very much.

The information is stored in the Visio file, but not in a readable format.
Dump the Visio drawing in XML format to see.

The add-on was not created by Visio, but by a 3rd party company. As such,
they did not follow the open format that other Visio solutions have.

You can store information in the shapesheet, it's up to you if you make the
information understandable to other users.

Visio supports SolutionXML where application data may be stored as xml in
either the document or the shape. As xml you can store data as binary images
which although not perfect will keep the amateurs from poking around in it.
