Where does Outlook 2003 store its files? I need to import them

I'm having real trouble, thought I had done a proper backup on Maxtor one
touch using Retrospect. when I tried to restore the drive it didn't really
work to well.

I do have access to the backup but need to know where Outlook 2003 stores
its data files and the file extension.

Make certain that you can view hidden files and look for files with a .pst
file extension. That/those file(s) contain your mail, contacts, etc.

I just built a new computer, loaded in my office 2003 program and then went
looking for my OUTLOOK data file on my old harddrive. I can't locate my saved
e-mails and contacts , can't locate file swith "pst" extensions, they don't
show up anywhere, is there a secret in finding them.

They should be in the HIDDEN folder x:\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook (where "x" is the drive letter
of your old drive). Just enter that path into Windows Explorer's address
bar and you'll see them.

Now, forget you ever heard the words "export" or "import". Just copy or
move your PST to your new HD, placing it in a folder of your choice (making
sure you do NOT replace an identically-named PST in that folder) and in
Outlook, open it with File>Open>Outlook Data File, browsing to where you
place it, selecting it, and clicking OK.

Now, you can either move or copy the items to your existing delivery PST or
designate your old PST as your current delivery location with Tools>E-mail
Accounts>Next, at the bottom left.
