Where is everyone?

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering the same thing.
Was there some sort of announcement that I missed?
Doesn't look like the Usenet contents have been moved, is there any
plan to?
Are MVPs no longer going to be looking here?

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering the same thing.
Was there some sort of announcement that I missed?

It was posted a number of times, but it could easily have been missed. An example is at http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.word.newusers/msg/d7c93eb43026ac93.
Doesn't look like the Usenet contents have been moved, is there any plan to?

Although Microsoft has shut down the servers that hosted the "home" of the microsoft.public.* hierarchy, Usenet is a distributed system that doesn't require those servers in order to keep operating.
Any server in the Usenet network can continue to carry the newsgroups, and it's up to the administrators of each server to decide whether to continue carrying and propagating the posts. The major
effect of Microsoft's move, though, has been to cut the frequency of new posts in the newsgroups to near zero.
Are MVPs no longer going to be looking here?

Most of us still watch for new posts wherever they come from.

Thanks Jay,

I had indeed missed these, as I didn't start paying very chose
attention to the boards until after that, and then only the VBA ones.
Things were still appearing and getting replies, so it never occurred
to me that there was another source. Only after the last couple of
weeks when there weren't any posts at all showing up did I begin
wondering if I should write something similar to the post that opened
this thread Now I just need to figure out which forum is equivalent
to this one. From what I've looked at so far, there doesn't appear to
be 1:1 match, rather, I will need to set filters to screen out APPs I
not concerned with.

Curiously, I found a post in early December that I had answered here
that never got more than a shrug over in the new forums. Guess I'll
have to figure a way to re-post it.

thanks again,

david
