L Lance Wallace Jun 1, 2006 #2 OK--I looked in File/Excel Options/Add-ins and was able to add Solver. AFter installation, it appears under "Formulas" and not "Data" which seems nonintuitive but it did retain the settings from my previous files in Excel 2000.
